Putnam Savings Bank Celebrates Grand Re-Opening
Return to News Releases

February 3, 2005 - Putnam Savings Bank is commemorating the completion of the year and a half long $1 million renovation project at its Main Office in Putnam with a weeklong Bank-wide Celebration, February 14th through the 19th.

"We want to share the fruits of our labors with our customers and friends," said President Bob Cocks. "Throughout the renovations, our customers and staff demonstrated extraordinary patience and understanding. We realize that there were times during the construction phases when it was difficult to conduct 'business as usual'. Our Grand Re-Opening Celebration gives us an opportunity to say 'Thank You' to the community for proving once again that Putnam Savings' customers are the best in the world."

The Grand Re-Opening kicks off with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Monday, February 14th at 9:00 a.m. The public is invited to attend the Ribbon Cutting, which will be followed by light refreshments. Putnam Mayor Daniel S. Rovero will be cutting the ribbon. Local radio station WINY will broadcast the ceremony.

On Wednesday, February 16, WINY will be broadcasting live from the Putnam Office from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. This office will open to customers at 8:00 a.m. so they can share in the festivities. The live remote will mark the beginning of a three-day Carnation Giveaway, designed to spark community spirit. Dubbed "Pass it On", each customer who visits any of the Bank's lobbies will be given two carnations, one to keep and one to pass on to a friend. Each flower will include a tag which reads: "A gift to thank you, and one for you to share. Spread the spirit of giving, show someone else you care."

Refreshments will be served at every branch office all week long. Bank visitors can also enter a drawing to win one of ten $30 gift certificates from the following restaurants: Sweet Evalina's, Pizza 101, George's Galley, Bill's Bread and Breakfast, Rain Desert, Harrington Bakery, Jessica Tuesday's, O'Conner's Steak and Seafood, The Vine, and Gus' Pub. Entry blanks are available at each branch office throughout the week. Winners will be notified by phone on Tuesday, February 22.

The renovation project, which began in 2003, included the addition of an attractive second floor that provided much-needed office space, the installation of an elevator, and creation of a signature clock tower. A courtyard-like setting, with brick pavers and lovely plantings, has been created on the Bank's property facing Main Street. The project demonstrates Putnam Savings Bank's deep-rooted commitment to enhancing the economic well-being of Putnam, where the Bank first began operations over 140 years ago.

Putnam Savings Bank, originally chartered in 1862, is a $325 million federally chartered and insured stock savings bank with offices in Putnam, Danielson, Pomfret Center and Plainfield. For more information about the Grand Re-Opening, visit any of the Bank's branch offices or call 860-928-6501.
