Putnam Savings Bank Tsunami Relief Fund Raises $2,411
Return to News Releases

March 13, 2005: Putnam Savings Bank is proud to announce that, through the generosity of its customers and employees, the Bank raised $2,411 in its Tsunami Relief fundraising drive. The contributions were donated to Habitat for Humanity International. Putnam Savings' Board of Directors started the fundraising effort with a $1,000 donation from the Bank in January. The balance of the donation came from contributions from Bank employees and customers.

"This donation is a testament to the generosity of the people of Putnam and the staff at Putnam Savings Bank," stated President Bob Cocks. "While there are many worthwhile organizations that are providing aid to the tsunami victims, we chose Habitat for Humanity International. We believe that providing housing is one of the most critical steps in enabling the people of Southeast Asia to rebuild their lives. Habitat for Humanity has the experience and resources to maximize our contribution for the greatest benefit."

Tax deductible contributions are still being accepted at any Putnam Savings Bank branch office. Checks should be made payable to 'Habitat for Humanity International'.

Habitat for Humanity International, based in Americus, Georgia, is an ecumenical Christian ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. By the end of 2005, Habitat will have built its 200,000th house and more than one million people will be living in Habitat homes they helped build.
