December 14, 2005: Putnam Savings Bank recently received the 2005 Eastern Connecticut Corporate Community Partner Award from the American Cancer Society at their annual Eastern Connecticut Volunteer Recognition Reception. The Corporate Community Partner Award is presented to a business or organization that has shown commitment to the American Cancer Society through financial contributions and through promotion of the Society's mission.
"Putnam Savings Bank took a lead role in the Relay for Life in eastern Connecticut by becoming its first corporate sponsor," said Shannon Stahecki of the American Cancer Society. "In addition to their financial commitment, the Bank was the first organization in the area to take part in the Active for Life program. Sixty-two of the Bank's employees registered in this program, which promotes a healthier lifestyle to benefit not only the employee but the organization as a whole."
"The passion with which the staff at Putnam Savings Bank approaches the Relays for Life and the American Cancer Society is a testament to the spirit of our Bank," said Bob Cocks, President of Putnam Savings. "Through their involvement in not only the Relays but other fundraisers for the Cancer Society such as dances, yard sales and food parties, the employees of Putnam Savings epitomize community commitment."
