Important Information: Debit Card Transactions
Blocked Debit Card Transactions in Certain Foreign Countries-
Important Change: Effective November 21, 2011, we will no longer be blocking all foreign countries. There will only be a select few countries that will have a block on all debit card transactions. These include Myanmar, Iran, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Sudan & Lybia. We will not be able to unblock these countries, so if you are travelling to any of the countries listed, please be sure to have another form of payment available.
Blocked "Card Not Present" International Debit Card Transactions-
Important Change: Effective immediately, to better protect our customers and the bank from increased fraudulent international online transactions, Putnam Bank will block all international transactions where the physical card is not presented to the merchant. These are known as "Card Not Present" transactions. For example, any purchase made online to a merchant located in a country outside of the United States, will not process when using your Putnam Bank debit card. Please use another form of payment. Your Putnam Debit Card cannot be unblocked to allow international online purchases. We apologize for any inconvenience, but feel the increased protection of our customers is necessary and important.

Please call us when you plan to travel, whether it is inside the United States or Internationally. Let us know the dates you are traveling and which cities you will be visiting. For added security, we now have a fraud protection program monitoring for suspicious or unusual transactions, i.e. transactions that are not normally associated with your card. Without notifying us, your card may be blocked for potential fraudulent use if our card processor, Elan, is unable to reach you to verify your transactions.
